Jubilee CityFest debuts VIP seating passes

By Darryn Simmons

You too can be a star at Jubilee CityFest this year by opting to purchase a special package that includes prime concert seats and reserved parking.

For the first time in Jubilee history, organizers are offering a $100 VIP seating pass that lets you park closer to the various riverfront stages -- and to get up close and personal with the performers. The VIP seats are in front of the stage and the pass gets you a seat for an entire day at the stage of your choice. The ticket price also covers the cost of admission for one day.

It's an idea whose time has come, said Marianne McLeod, the festival's executive director.

"With all businesses, you have to re-examine all your revenue streams," McLeod said. "We found other festivals were doing it and we thought some people would definitely prefer to not have to bring a chair or go hunting for a parking space."

There will be 100 VIP seats at each stage.

McLeod said the reaction to the new tickets, which can only be purchased online, has been positive.

She noted many people are inquiring about the Goo Goo Dolls' concert on April 27 at the Regions Bank/AT&T stage.

"We've gotten calls from all over the country on them," McLeod said. "They have a very loyal fanbase and people probably need to purchase tickets for that stage on that night pretty quickly."

Festivalgoers who secure VIP tickets for that day at the Colonial Bank stage will also have a good view for what is shaping up to be one of the longest concerts in Jubilee history.

Vince Gill is scheduled to perform for two hours and 15 minutes.

"Normally, acts request 60-90 minutes," McLeod said. "So this should be a treat."

Jubilee CityFest is April 27-28 in downtown Montgomery
