I don't really love the sudio versions of Acoustic #3 or Impersonality, but I took the live performance into consideration and Impersonality was on the first bootleg I ever owned by the Goos so it won.

At least you made my decision easy for the LLI songs.  Can't Let It Go is easily my most despised (yeah, I know I'm gonna get hated for that) so any other LLI song wins over it.

Nothing I say should ever influence what you think about ANYTHING.  :D

I don't have a serious reason why I don't like it, I just don't.  The guitar is very jerky and it reminds me of Men At Work's "Down Under".  The video for said song has always weirded me out.  So when I hear Can't Let It Go I think of the weird tall guy in the bar with the Vegemite sandwich in the video.  And that's my primary reason for hating the song.  It has nothing to do with the lyrics.  If I wanted to hate a song primarily based on lyrics, that would be Become.

I was pretty happy when I found out John 'hated' Can't Let It Go because I knew it would be the song they wouldn't play in concert and it was pretty safe to assume it wouldn't be a single when there are songs on LLI I can tolerate more.

It's funny...when I first heard Can't Let It Go it reminded me so much of Always Know Where You Are and I loved that song.

I know what you mean about how a song can remind you of something else and instantly be ruined. If Can't Let It Go reminded me of Land Down Under I probably wouldn't like it either  ;) That made me laugh when you referred to the tall guy eating the vegemite sandwich because I know exactly what you're talking about....lol

I'm not the biggest Become fan either. I like the lyrics and I think there are alot of hidden layers to the words ... meaning I don't take the lyrics at face value. But the music doesn't do much for me...it's kind of boring...to each his own I guess. Now I love Feel the Silence and We'll Be Here (When You're Gone).

I get the Always Know Where You Are reference.  And I never really loved that song either.  I would choose I'm Still Here over AKWYA.  I don't even think I could sing along to it because I rarely listen to it.  And yeah, the image of dirty tall guys and the boy with the flute skipping down the hill imagery is not what I want when I listen to a sing by the Goos.

Become is weird for me.  I kind of like it (gasp!).  If I ignore the power chord parts (and the jingley part at the beginning, which reminds me of the beginning of Do You Believe In Hom?) I can listen to it in the background.  But when I am actively listening it just makes me mad because IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.  The word 'beautiful' ruins the entire song.  I understand how he is saying this person is kind of being knocked around by people and abused and has sort of let go of her (?) personality and her hopes and dreams.  And he's saying "Let me remind you..." telling her she's wrong to throw everything away.  Then he tells her she has become beautiful.  But how can he think she has become more beautiful by losing herself?  Wouldn't that make her less beautiful?  If the chorus was "Yeah, you WERE beautiful" I'd fully change my opinion of the song.  Maybe I'm too literal.  I guess that's what happens when your life revolves around very black and white things.  

Any other songs you'd like me to tear apart today?  You know I'm ALL for hijacking threads.

I know alot of people think Become is about a woman. I've always thought it was John coming into an acceptance of himself. Right when LLI came out he gave an interview where he stated he's come out of the darkness and was learning to enjoy life. That he's stopped hiding. As soon as I read that article I immediately thought of the lyrics to this song. Sort of an autobiography hidden in a love song....almost like a dialog with himself.

The last paragraph ... "brush back the hair"... I've always thought John hid behind his hair...like security.
