Title: LLI People Magazine Review!
Post by ShanGooFan on Apr 21st, 2006, 1:38pm
I got my People magazine today and turned immediately to the reviews. It's not as harsh as a Dallas review I read today but it's not 4 stars either. It's also not a bad review for People either.

Directly under the picture it says....."What the Goo Goo Dolls may lack in substance, they make up for in hooks".

The Goo Goo Dolls: Let Love In

A toast to the Goo Goo Dolls: This year the rockers celebrate their 20th anniversary, which means they formed roughly around the time that current pop darlings Arctic Monkeys were born. Let Love In, the Goos' eighth studio release, won't exactly rock your world, but it is another solid if unspectacular effort from the veterans. Although there is nothing here that will make you forget "Iris", the trio's City of Angels soundtrack smash, there is plenty of VH1-ready fare that will stick to you like Goo, including the U2-lite single "Stay With You" and the acoustic-guitar-driven "Can't Let It Go"(the closest they come to matching "Iris"). However, there is a sameness to some of the tracks-bad sequencing puts sound-alikes "Feel the Silence" and "Better Days" right next to each other-and an overall feeling of deja vu. Two decades in, though, the Goo Goo Dolls are still going fairly strong. 2-1/2 stars

Download this:"Can't Let It Go"

I totally agreed with what he said about Can't Let it Go being the closest to Iris. It's simply amazing. It blew me away the minute I heard it.

lol I don't know why, but it drives me crazy sometimes how everybody keeps comparing new songs to Iris! They DO have other great songs. lol Thanks for posting that.

I totally agree with you. There's so many other great songs. That must be a huge weight to carry around too ... knowing that every song is compared to Iris. It's no wonder John experienced writers block. See now for me ... Name is much more powerful.
