Years ago I worked in an office with a dude from the UK and he was looking for rubbers. I gave him a funny look, and he clarified that we call them erasers! Yeah, yeah, my mind lives in the gutter.

Lol Patty. I would have been right there with ya. When I first saw someone post 'chuffed' on the board I thought it meant 'mad' or 'angry'. Come to find out it's the opposite...lol. That's one of my favorite words now.

| Couch and sofa are both used in the US. I say couch, but some people call more sleek upscale couches sofas. Others only use sofa. US uses elevator and living room. And yes, we call sweets candy. The US is huge though, so there's variation in words in different parts of the country. Like, I say pop while other people in the country say soda. I also call a 'lollipop' a sucker.

I've always wished we said "loo" instead of bathroom or restroom. Remember those things they were gonna come out with....like a computer in the bathroom or something. What were they called? iloo i think....they were from Apple.

I know some Irish people, and I noticed one of the funniest cultural differences when I asked one of them if he needed a ride home from the theater. When I asked, "Hey, you want a ride?" he looked horrified and then amused. They, apparently, say "lift" to mean a lift home in someone's car. "Ride" is sexual. It got even worse, when I started to explain by saying, "Oh, yeah, we just say ride. It's not sexual at all. Like, I could get a ride from my Grandparents."
