I don't know that I'd say it was a lie. More like John recorded the song and the makers of the movie/soundtrack decide whether or not they'll use it. Nothing official has been announced yet.

It says on the Spiderman 3 soundtrack myspace that there's a "digital edition" featuring a bonus track...hmmm? I do remember hearing that the song will be featured in the movie, but I'm not sure if that's totally confirmed. Soooo, I guess I'll be seeing the movie for sure now!

It does say it is a love song. Click on the link. There's a video but to the left is the transcript of the video with a question that didn't make the video. John answers it in the 2nd question.
