Over It provides new sound to pop

PrintEmail Article Tools Page 1 of 1 Over It, the five-piece rock band from Virginia, has made their major-label debut with their spunky new album, Step Outside Yourself. The album, released in August 2006 through Virgin Records, is fun, straightforward pop rock. Step Outside Yourself is comprised of thirteen songs, which is slightly long for a pop-rock record.

The album begins with the band's single, "Think Against the Grain," a happy, driving tune, strategically placed on the album to grab the listener's attention. The next bold song on the album is "Sirens on the 101" which begins with a guitar hook that carries the song through.

The album feels a bit anticlimactic, as it is unusually long and lacks diversity, but has a meaty middle. However, this may not be a bad thing if you like to listen to lots of pop-rock at one time. Some of the best songs on the album come toward the end, such as "Come Out With Your Hands Up" and "Like Satellites" - two songs that prove that the band can do something different.

The quintet's squeaky-clean sound is bound to attract massive amounts of listeners, particularly radio listeners. Over It is currently on tour with the Goo Goo Dolls and has an extensive tour schedule planned through the end of April.

Has anyone heard of Over It? I thought the Goos were touring with Augustana :thinkin: I just looked up their schedule online and the Goos aren't listed but Last Conservative is. I wonder if this writer made a mistake.

Over It opened for the GGD in Bangor and in Portland. I personally did not like their music. I hope they aren't still touring with the GGD, because I really would love to see Augustana perform. (Of course they have to come to a venue near me, before I start worrying about who is opening for them.)

I dunno, I thought they were alright. Not the best band the Goo's have had as an opener, but far from the worst... Tongue

So just for the record, it is Augustana that's playing the spring shows? I keep seeing them on those VH1 "you oughta know" clips or whatever those are called.

I've never heard of Over It...and from what has been posted so far in this thread, I don't think I want to.

Yeah, I saw Over It open for the Goos at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. They were alright, I enjoyed their music...mainstream hard-rock type stuff.
If you root around on their myspace, you'll find some clips with Goo in 'em.
