GOO GOO DOLLS STAR NERVOUS ABOUT RETURN TO NEW ORLEANS GOO GOO DOLLS star ROBBY TAKAC has mixed emotions about performing live at the Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana tonight (25SEP06) because he fears the devastation of Hurricane Katrina will be too much for him. The bassist and his band will join other acts, like U2 and GREEN DAY, gathering to mark the re-opening of the famous sports arena, which was used to shelter evacuees during last summer's (05) deadly storms. And though Takac is honoured that his group will be taking part, he's nervous about returning to a city he once loved. Speaking before the group's trip to Louisiana, he said, "They've arranged a bus trip for us so we can take a trip through the city and get the real deal about what's going on. "I'm intrigued about what I'm going to see and, more importantly, seeing what positive steps are being taken. "For us, New Orleans was like going to Disneyland for a couple of days. It's a place that is so uniquely steeped in its own culture. "I've explored things I can't even talk about in New Orleans but about 15 years ago I was playing there and we were in a teeny little bar somewhere back off the beaten path and we saw a dude who looked amazingly like Dennis Hopper sitting at the bar. "Our drummer walked up to him and said, 'Dude, you look like Dennis Hopper,' and he said, 'I am Dennis Hopper.' Things like that happen all the time there." 25/09/2006 03:27 http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/article/goo%20goo%20dolls%20star%20 nervous%20about%20return%20to%20new%20orleans_1009112

I'm sure it's gonna be an emotional trip. (I loved the story about Dennis Hopper.)
