Mum's meet and greet

Hey everyone.... so..... my mum gets to meet the Goos tomorrow night in Scranton. I was wondering if anyone else on here is going to the M&G at that show. She's never been to anything like this (neither have I ) and I would like to tell her more about it than I quite frankly know myself. Like the pictures... is she going to be paired up with a random stranger? Just anything that anyone wants to tell me, would really help right now. Thanks! lady_croft

Hi, I was one of the meet & greet winners for Bethel Woods, just last night. I'm very shy, but when I noticed other people waiting by the will call booth, I could tell pretty easily who was waiting around for the same reason (you could see people holding their e-mails that had notified them they'd won a meet & greet). I started to talk to a few people, and everyone was very nice. There were some people who paired up; either they knew each other beforehand, or became friendly enough during the wait by will-call that they decided to pose together in their pictures. By the time the last 3 of us were about to have our pictures taken, security asked if we knew each other. We had gotten along really well for the whole hour and a half that we knew each other, but since we were 3, we just said no, we weren't together, and each of us had an individual pose with the band. So I suppose it depends on the circumstances, and the time factor; maybe if there is more time available before the show, they don't mind having fewer people per photo. I hope she has a good experience at her meet & greet. It goes by very quickly. Just smile and don't be nervous, that would be my advice.

Thanks for your response! I am sure that she will be fine, although she's still upset that she won instead of me, it's just that to her I'm the expert who is supposed to know about these things and I really don't! Anyway, thank you very much for your response.

I know how your mom feels. I won a meet & greet pass, but my daughter couldn't come in with me, since it's only for the one person who wins through the fan club, so she had to go off on her own while I went to the meet & greet thing. Little did I know on this particular night they had no pre-arranged ID bracelets nor did they check our ID's, so she probably could've snuck in with me had she not already gone into the venue. But she was cool with it.

I just wanted to let everyone know how Mum's meet and greet went and to share the picture of mum and goo. We had such a great time. I took me about a week to recover from the experience, probably because I woke up every hour on the hour the night before the show and barely slept the night after! (I was really excited) I also wanted to thank the green o for her responses, advice and reassurance. I think that I was probably more nervous than my mum about her meet and greet. I had made a cd for the Goos, full of funny songs for her to give them. So we make our way to the ticket office and pick up our tickets and her meet and greet pass. While we were standing in line we heard the people behind us talking. The 16 year old daughter Hannah had also won a spot in the meet and greet. We ended up speaking to them and forming a group near the ticket booth, the cult of blue bracelets! Eventually this short dude who "works for the Goos!" comes and speaks to us and explains how the meet and greet is going to work. Five minutes later a security guy from the venue comes over and tells us something completely different. We called the short dude back over and had the two of them sort it out. It was really funny actually because the crowd of meet and greeters kept growing, but we were ALL watching the little guy to make sure he didn't bugger off and I think he knew it! Eventually they took them backstage. I stayed with Hannah's parents and tried to convince them that they would get their daughter back and that mum would watch out for her. After a while I started to see people come back out. My mum and Hannah were last. Hannah had gotten really nervous and so had my mother, but neither had barfed on John's shoes, so it was okay. Mum said she had a great time, Rob was really funny, that drummer was really quiet and John had messy hair. A little while later she leans over and grabs my hand and starts rubbing it with hers. What the hell I say to her and she replies, "that was from the Goos, I shook all their hands and I didn't wash my hands yet". I cracked up - there's my 50 something mother, she meets the Goos and starts acting like she's 15! Anyway, while I would have loved more than anything to have met them, I am so very glad that my mum did. And when we looked at the picture of her she told me "there's my proof! I gave John your cd and it is in his hand!" I love my mum! Driving up the mountain and seeing the signs proclaiming the crows would not be playing was awesome, not because I didn't want to see them, but because I REALLY wanted more Goo. And Scranton gave the Goos a warm welcome. In return we got the Goos we all know and love, laughing, joking with the audience relaxed and energetic. This is only my second Goo concert and although I was closer this time, it was not close enough! It was the best birthday present tho! There is nothing like a goo goo dolls concert, standing there singing all the words with a big stupid grin on my face, and tears in my eyes. I feel so very lucky to have gotten to this one concert. I think that what people have been saying is probably right, that the Goos have been feeling pressed for time during these shows and their interaction with the crowd has suffered because of it. Hopefully this new tour will be better.... I think I know what I want for Christmas! My mother is definitely psyched to go to another Goo concert, and we are agreed that the next meet and greet pass is mine! So... thanks again to the green o and here's the pictures... the first is mum and the goos, the second is a very nervous hannah and the goos. http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j202/rugby327/mumandgoo.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j202/rugby327/gooandhannah.jpg

Thanks for the great review. I would have given anything to be at one of the Goo only shows. Glad to hear your mum's m&g worked out well. The pictures are great!
