In the peak years of Nashville Country ('68-'74)
your records were among the very few that I
eagerly awaited! GOOD NEWS remains my all-time
favorite single of that era. Your album covers
adorned many Southern control room walls, let me
tell you!
It's a pleasure to find this site! My heartfelt
thanks to a truly beautiful woman - one who has
the talent to go with the looks!
This past summer, I was programming a small FM
outside of Jacksonville, FL. Doing it all by
computer. We played an eclectic mixture called
"Sixty Years of Hits." Songs from MOONLIGHT
SERENADE to THIS KISS, and about 2,000 others in
between. I happened to find GOOD NEWS on (ahem)
Napster and sent it out the same morning. There
were five records that caused considerable
telephone activity every time they aired. One
was Paul Williams' WAKING UP ALONE. Another was
BJ Thomas' BRINK BACK THE TIME. Another Gene
Pitney JUST ONE SMILE. Jackie DeShannon's
version of THE WEIGHT was another. As soon as
GOOD NEWS aired the first time, it joined the Top
Five and stayed there for many, many weeks.
Best Always,
Chris
